טָרִיתf. (נטר, cmp. אִטְּרִי) preserve, pickle, esp. salted or pickled fish. Meg.6a טמוני זו ט׳ ‘stored things (Deut. 33:19) refers to tarith (as a valuable article of commerce); Sifré Deut. 354; Num. R. s. 13.Ab. Zar. II, 6 ט׳ טרופה brine containing hashed tarith (when you cannot recognize the clean and unclean fish), Ib. ט׳ שאינה טרופה in which the fish can be recognized.
